President Trump seems to be getting in the habit of threatening to take certain specific actions then pulling back.
One hopes that he doesn’t think this is an original idea — U.S. Drug czars have been declaring victory for over thirty years.

Talk about bad optics:

Why would the President allow George Stephanopoulos — who stands about five-foot-nothing — to hover over him as he sits at his desk?
Whittaker Chambers was reported as commenting upon his defection to the West that he felt like he had left the winning side to join the losing side.
Shouldn’t the Republicans be feeling this way by now?
(BTW: Libertarians are born feeling this way.)
How many Republicans — how many Trumps supporters and advocates — were alarmed when they learned that the president agreed to a thirty-hour interview with George Stephanopoulos?
Remember, a gaffe by a Republican echoes in the canyons of the media indefinitely, whereas a gaffe by a Democrat whispers into the ether of empty space, never to be heard again.
If the president wants to ensure his defeat in 2020, he should continue to grant up-close-and-personal access to his adversaries in the mainstream media.
Biden just came out against the Hyde Amendment. It has been reported that his position has “evolved.”
As most people realize, evolution is typically defined as being “slow change over time.” Joe Biden just underwent punctuated equilibrium.
Rush Limbaugh is by far the best talk show host on radio. However, if you listen to the last half hour of his show, you will be listening to 25 minutes of commercials.
Most talk radio hosts have no problem pushing their sponsors’ products for several minutes during their programs, sometimes coming out of a five-minute ad to deliver another five-minute ad.
Speaking of ads…
Fox and Friends is impossible to watch. They won’t engage a guest for long because the need to go to commercial.
I could expect to hear the following on Fox and Friends:
“THIS IS A FOX NEWS ALERT!”
“Just coming across the wire…. NORAD has issued an alert to all news agencies. Three minutes ago, Russia launched a major portion of its ICBMs at major cities across the US. According to the alert, 45 American cities have been targeted and we’ll be sure to tell you the names of those cities — when we come back!”
